Clergy News

We are blessed to be welcoming back Father Patrick Malloy in 2026. Father Patrick, who many will remember for his inspirational preaching, recognised our need for continuity of leadership and will lead a team of three priests, including himself, each with us for two months this coming season. Father Patrick will welcome the new church year on Easter Sunday, 5th April and stay until the end of May. Father Stephen Setzer, an Episcopal priest from New York will officiate during June and July. Father Dermot Dunne who retires this year as Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin comes for August and September.

Fr Pat has sent this Easter message:

On Easter, our little community will begin a new year. In an increasingly broken and dangerous world, the little churchonlakecomo will begin a season of celebrating God’s Easter promise that life, not death, is God’s will.

People are hungry to believe that community will triumph, not devision, and that love will win, not fear and hate. All summer, people will wander into the church looking for solace and hope. They will be looking for like minded and like hearted people, and we will be there to embrace them.

There will be people at our service on Easter who hardly ever go near a church. Why will they come on Easter, and why to us? What will they find among us? What will they carry away thanks to us? If even one of them leaves more hopeful than they were when they arrived, we will have done God’s work on Lake Como. We will have made a good beginning of the summer season 2026.

Dean Dunne, Father Setzer, and I look forward to our days with you this year, and we are grateful that our shared life and work is about to begin on Easter Day.

Pat

These three priests with diverse experience and skills are already meeting to discuss ways in which our church may optimise its profile, reach a wider community on Lake Como and prosper in the coming years. This strategy gives us a good chance to promote our mission; we are excited and enormously grateful for this leadership opportunity.
